The term " Child Abuse” refers to intended acts that result in physical or psychological harm to children. Child abuse covers a wide range of behavior via physical invasion by parents or additional adult caretakers to overlook of kid's basic need. Child abuse is actually a social difficulty that impacts millions of kids each year, kids less than 3 years of age being the most repeated victims. (Edelman & Mandle, 2010) With this article, the author chose to discuss child abuse and maltreatment in preschool age children. There are many forms of child maltreatment such as sex abuse, physical abuse, verbal abuse, psychological abuse, disregard and abandonment/ separation. Through this age most common abuses are physical, sex, emotional and negligence. Like a health care provider while we are assessing an instance of child misuse, we constantly need to examine the background from the child's relatives child, by simply checking parenting skills of caretakers, work and education status in the parents, economic conditions at your home and environment of the house (safe and clean for the child). We also need to check for any great drug and alcohol mistreatment among family members, care taker's personal restrictions and particular cognitive or medical conditions (such as mental retardation or depression) of care takers, all these can effect children's care tremendously. (Jarvis, 2011) Signs and symptoms nurses need to check for when they are evaluating a preschool child intended for abuse will be as follows: Physical Child mistreatment: Child offers unexplained repeated injuries, can burn, fractures, craters and bald patches. Child shows signal of fear and reluctance during physical exam (he is trying to himself faraway from examiner). Kid has difficult time concentrating and shows self-destruction tendencies & aggression to others. Child is wary of adults and injuries figure are inconsistent with the children's age and developmental period....
